Washed Out
A poem by Lily Selthofner, 2021.
the same force that rolls waves upon the shore
sweetens breeze and echoes arial song
the backbone
brushes a woman’s dress as she walks
and screeches to her silent serenade
early ocean foam carries scavengers
little trinkets:
wind-washed seashells
casting little shadows in the late morning sun.
the waves ricochet
in fortune days
hiding empty messages from above
